Edit PDF Metadata

Edit a PDF's title, author, subject and keywords. Existing values are filled in automatically.

What it does

Every PDF carries hidden details: title, author, subject, keywords and the app that created it. They appear in document properties and search results, and sometimes leak personal information, such as your computer's user name in the author field.

This tool reads the current values, lets you edit or clear them, and saves a new PDF without touching the content.

How to use it

  1. Drop your PDF file.
  2. The existing metadata is filled in automatically; edit it.
  3. Press "Save and download".

When is it useful?

  • Fixing the title and author of documents before publishing
  • Removing personal details from the author field before sharing
  • Making PDFs on your website appear in search results with the right title
  • Adding keywords to archived documents

Tips

  • For PDFs published online, search engines may show the title field instead of the file name.
  • To remove personal data fully, also use Redact PDF on the pages that need it.
