Convert Image Format

Convert images between PNG, JPG and WEBP entirely in your browser, with no upload.

What it does

A site that only accepts JPG, a design that needs a transparent PNG, or a page that loads faster with WEBP: switching image formats comes up all the time. This tool converts an image to PNG, JPG or WEBP.

The conversion happens entirely in your browser. Personal photos and client images are never sent to a server.

How to use it

  1. Drop or select an image.
  2. Choose the target format.
  3. Click "Convert and download".

When is it useful?

  • Matching the format an application form asks for
  • Converting website images to lighter WEBP files
  • Saving logos that need transparency as PNG
  • Making screenshots in an odd format easy to share

Tips

  • JPG or WEBP usually suit photos best; PNG suits logos and screenshots.
  • To shrink the file further, pass the result to Compress Image.

Frequently asked questions

Does conversion lose quality?
PNG is lossless. JPG and WEBP compress the image; you will not notice it in photos, but flat colours may lose a little quality.
Is transparency preserved?
PNG and WEBP preserve transparency. JPG does not support it, so transparent areas are filled with white.
Is my file safe?
Yes. The conversion runs entirely in your browser; the file is never uploaded to any server.
Does WEBP open everywhere?
All current browsers and operating systems open WEBP. Some older desktop apps may not; pick JPG or PNG for those.
