WrenPDF

Document → PDF

Write HTML, Markdown or plain text, preview it live and download it as a PDF. Page-break preview, A4/Letter, orientation and margin controls.

What it does

If you have built an invoice template, CV or report in HTML and CSS, you do not need another app to turn it into a clean PDF. This tool shows HTML, Markdown or plain text in a live preview with page breaks visible, and lets you set the page size, orientation and margins.

There are two ways out: an image-based PDF that looks exactly like the preview, and a vector PDF that uses the browser's print engine, keeps text selectable and the file small.

How to use it

  1. Paste your HTML/CSS code into the editor, or open an .html file.
  2. Choose the page size, orientation, margin and quality.
  3. Press "Download as PDF"; the slicing and assembly happen in the worker.

When is it useful?

  • Turning HTML invoices and quotes into PDFs
  • Making Markdown notes and docs easy to share
  • Exporting a CV you designed yourself
  • Turning a plain text draft into a tidy document

Tips

  • In a vector PDF, control page breaks yourself with CSS "break-before: page".
  • If selectable text matters, use the Vector PDF button.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert a live web address (URL) into a PDF?
For security reasons, browsers do not let a page read the content of other sites. Save the page as HTML with "Save as", then load it here, or paste its source code.
What is the difference between the two PDF buttons?
The download button turns the page into an image (the text can no longer be selected). The vector button uses the browser's print engine, so the text stays selectable and the file is small.
Does the interface freeze while the page is being rendered?
Reading the DOM with html2canvas is a short step and runs on the main thread; the real heavy work (scanning the whitespace between rows and assembling a multi-page PDF) happens in a Web Worker, to which the image is transferred.
Do external images and fonts work?
Images and fonts your browser can reach are used in the preview. Some sites block their images from loading elsewhere; in that case add the image as a file.
