Word → PDF
Turn a Word (.docx) document into a PDF without uploading it. Headings, lists, tables and images carry over; preview, then download.
What it does
Turn a Word (.docx) file into a PDF on a computer that has no Microsoft Office, without uploading it to an online converter. The tool reads headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and images and lays them out on pages you can check in the preview.
Page size and margins are yours to choose. The vector PDF option keeps text selectable and the file light, which is what most job portals and email recipients expect.
How to use it
- Drop your Word (.docx) file into the box, or choose it.
- Check the layout in the preview, then pick the page size and margins.
- Press "Download as PDF". Use the "Vector PDF" button to keep the text selectable.
When is it useful?
- Sending a CV as a PDF from a borrowed or work computer
- Converting a letter or report that contains personal details
- Turning a Word assignment into the PDF your school portal asks for
- Making a document look the same on every device
Tips
- Floating text boxes, page headers and footers are simplified; check the preview before sending.
- If photos make the PDF too large, pass it to Compress PDF.
- For heavily designed brochures, export from the app they were designed in.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I convert a live web address (URL) into a PDF?
- For security reasons, browsers do not let a page read the content of other sites. Save the page as HTML with "Save as", then load it here, or paste its source code.
- What is the difference between the two PDF buttons?
- The download button turns the page into an image (the text can no longer be selected). The vector button uses the browser's print engine, so the text stays selectable and the file is small.
- Does the interface freeze while the page is being rendered?
- Reading the DOM with html2canvas is a short step and runs on the main thread; the real heavy work (scanning the whitespace between rows and assembling a multi-page PDF) happens in a Web Worker, to which the image is transferred.
- Does it work with old .doc files?
- Only .docx is supported. Open the .doc file in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs and save it as .docx first.
- Are fonts kept?
- Text uses fonts installed on your device. If the document relies on an unusual font you do not have, a similar one is used.
