Crop PDF
Crop the margins of PDF pages with a live preview. Nothing is deleted and the text stays selectable; your file is never uploaded.
What it does
PDFs from scanners and copiers often come with wide white margins, dark edges or shadows that make them harder to read and print. Set the margins in percent and see the result instantly in the preview.
Cropping only narrows the visible area of the page; nothing is deleted and text stays selectable. A crop that goes too far is never a permanent loss.
How to use it
- Drop your PDF file.
- Set the margins to crop as percentages; the preview updates instantly.
- Press "Crop and download".
When is it useful?
- Hiding dark edges and shadows on scanned pages
- Trimming margins so pages read larger on a tablet or e-reader
- Cleaning up unused space around slides
- Removing copier marks from the edge of a page
Tips
- Five percent from each edge is a good starting point for most documents.
- To shrink the file as well, send the cropped result to Compress PDF.
Frequently asked questions
- Does cropping delete content?
- No, you are on the safe side. Cropping only narrows the page's visible area (the CropBox); the content stays in the file and the text remains selectable. If you crop badly, just try again from the original file.
- Why does the file size not shrink?
- Because the content was not deleted, so it is still in the file. If you want a smaller file, run the "Compress PDF" tool after cropping.
- Does it work on scanned documents?
- Yes. Cropping works independently of the content type; it applies the same way to scanned, text or mixed PDFs.
- How do I find the right margins?
- Adjust the values and watch the preview update instantly. For most documents, 5% top/bottom and 5% left/right is a good starting point.
- Is my file uploaded?
- No. Cropping happens entirely in your browser, inside a separate Web Worker.
- Can I crop each page differently?
- This tool applies the same margins to every page. For pages that need different crops, separate them with Split PDF first and crop each part.
